Biography, Awards and Education

Born in Northern Italy in 1987 and raised in a musical family, he took his first trombone at the age of 10. Nowadays he performs intensively in Italy and Europe as a sight-forward sideman and as a leader of his own bands and he is considered as one of the most interesting italian musicians of his generation.

He is active in different fields of jazz and improvised music, embracing contemporary music, avantgarde jazz and world music. From 2014 he leads an electric trio with Attila Gyarfas on drums and Yannick Lestra on fender rhodes. His latest project is a quartet alongside Giovanni Guidi on piano, Mattia Magatelli on bass and Attila Gyarfas on drums, which recorded ‘Harvesting Minds’, released in September 2017 by Cam Jazz.

He won the ‘Best New Talent’ award in the 2016 ‘Top Jazz’ critics pool promoted by the historic italian jazz magazine ‘Musica Jazz’ , following the release of his debut album ‘Plastic Breath’ (Auand).

Throughout his career he received several other awards: from the  as a best soloist at Barga Jazz 2011 to the Burghausen European Young Artists Jazz Award 2017.

He has also got a sound academic education: he’s graduated summa cum laude at the Conservatoire National Superiéur de Danse et Musique de Paris and he studied also at the Conservatorium Van Amsterdam and in the italian conservatories of Ferrara and Rovigo.

A Clear Musical Vision

His musical journey started early. Through years of studying, performing and travelling across Europe, he has developed a clear musical vision, without boundaries between genres and where the ritual process of improvisation touches the listener.

Collaborations and Appearences

As a soloist, arranger and composer, he had the opportunity to work with several musicians and bands including: Giovanni Guidi Rebel Band, Ghost Horse, Francesco Diodati XL, Piero Bittolo Bon Bread & Fox, Zeno De Rossi Zenophilia, Giovanni Falzone Quintet, Enzo Favata & Tenores di Bitti, Vink Globokar Ensemble, Enzo Carniel Sextet, Vincent Le Quang Quintet, Rosa Brunello Y Los Fermentos, Ada Montellanico Quintet, Hank Roberts, Pasquale Mirra, Dan Kinzelman, Alfonso Santimone, Stephane e Lionel Belmondo, Dave Milligan, Onno Govaert, Reiner Baas.

In March 2017  he was invited as ‘resident artist’ by the ‘Vicenza Jazz New Conversations’, one of main italian jazz festivals where he performed 3 concerts, presenting his trio, his quartet and the trombone solo performance ‘Solologue’.

With his own projects or as a sideman he has appeared in the most relevant festivals in Italy: Novara Jazz, Correggio Jazz, Vicenza Jazz, Umbria Jazz Winter, Young Jazz Foligno, Sudtirol Jazz Festival Musiche Sulle Bocche, Time in Jazz, Fano Jazz, By The Sea, Fiemme Ski-jazz, Young Jazz Foligno, Festival di Nuova Musica di Macerata, Jazz Club Ferrara, Roma Casa Del Jazz, Cross- Roads Emilia Romagna, Festambiente Sud, Narni Black Festival, Isea Jazz, Pescara Jazz etc; and in Europe: Festival Jazz à la Villette (Paris), Jazz sous les Pommiers (Coutances), Edinburgh Jazz Festival (Scotland), Valijevo Jazz Fest (Serbija) , Bimhuis (Amsterdam).

He has played concerts all over Europe, and in particular Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, France, Belgium, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbija, Russia, The Netherlands and Scotland.
